Then again, I'm a sucker for all that Highbury talk about how Arsenal were "a proper club who did things the right way".

How are you feeling about Arseblog nowadays, have you reconciled yourself with him?

contributors but his own writing is almost always a waste of time (though he can be funny).

I also dig out on twitter on occasion and he always comes back at me a few times. I have a suspicion he reads Awimb, actually.

I dont think he writes particularly badly and I do think he's developed an excellent style for the quick daily update, can you imagine how dull that would be to do without the levity?

I like his podcast, site, contributors etc immensely and, considering he's been doing it over a decade now, it's hugely admirable imo.

Presumably he doesn't make any money from it, so I really don't see how he can be arsed with such a time-consuming enterprise that has such mediocre output, at least in the days before he got good contributors on board. I guess there is some artistic satisfaction in the production values, but surely he gets that from his other podcast?

Then again, it was arseblog that indirectly got him to Maron, so for that alone, I guess it's worth it...

Or at least loosely based around us.

I can’t say I read him on a regular basis anymore though I do visit the site for Tim Stillman.

I wouldve liked the idea of a Monty column though.

Obviously not as much as my mum etc

A footballing honey-pot of debate and opinion.

Give it a few weeks and he will have a “how **** is Welbeck really” based daily blog.

I totally understand writing as a hobby, but football writing? Nope. Proper weird.

Gym attendance for you for example.

I would imagine at times it must be an absolute ball-ache to have to do but over the years he has probably had enough freebies and perhaps access to certain people or events which to him makes it all worthwhile.

There is probably also a tiny deal of very minor celebrity which he may get off on.

A column written by the dullest c**t in probably Europe.

A man who by his own admission hates the supporters of Arsenal Football Club and to whom match day attendance appears to be an ordeal as he has to sit in the midst of people he despises.

Way to go.

not the experience itself. I think of hobbies as experiences you enjoy in and of themselves.

So, gym: not a bobby
Playing sport: hobby

Or simply the task of having completed exercise.

Unless of course you take it very seriously and the winning or losing is the main issue.

A hobby is surely just a task you physically choose to do where little or no financial gain is made – gym, writing a blog, cooking or in my case f**k all now that I think about it.

Away day match reviews. No idea if he still does.

As sound a chap as you could hope to meet. I think he was simply using the voluntary process as a means of bolstering his CV with ideally a few to better things. The fact it was simply a fanzine probably meant there was no expectation to deliver masterpiece tomes.

I recall seeing the rather large Highbury Spy chap in Paris in 2006, chaps asking for photos with etc. Now that is weird.

to work your 'core', which basically refers to the muscles that stabilize and move your spine.

Machines benefit the vanity muscles but little else.

Months you have been doing this malarkey now. It’s the sheer boredom that would do for me, that and both my Achilles Tendons.
