Went in there and laid it on thick with the whole 'I don't really drink white wine and I just wanted to thank you for organising the quiz, etc, etc.'
She seemed massively chuffed and was positively beaming when I left, which suggests to me that she didn't hear what I said, I was worrying about nothing and that I've not only made myself look like a smarmy ****, but have also given away a perfectly good bottle of booze my wife would happily have drunk for no good reason. :-
So actually, sw, now I think about it, you're a ****. :-(
