View Full Version : I just made a very inappropriate and possibly ill-judged joke. Frown

I won a company quiz night thing the other night and the HR lady just came in to give me my prize - a couple of bottles of plonk - one red one white."

When she left the office I said "Well that's the only time in my life that (NAME REDACTED) is ever likely to give me a Semillon ['Semi on' - geddit]?"

Everyone laughed. But then I realised she hadn't left, but was in the kitchen next door to my office.

I feel bad. I am a bad man. :-(

is unlikely to provoke you into a state of tumescence. Surely far better than if you'd said "not the first time she's given me a Semillon"

Your only concern should be whether the double entendre in and of itself would have caused offence.

boorish manner. Had I made the joke you suggest, I still would have been oafish and boorish, but could still say I was paying her a compliment (if you consider my acknowledging someone's ability to arouse me as a compliment, of course).

No. It's rude and horrid and I feel bad. :-(

So every cloud and all that.

Perhaps you could go to her office and give her the white wine as a token of your remorse.

If she is aware of your comment she will nod her head accordingly.

If she is not then tell her it's a chicks drink anyway and never to darken your door with it again.

I have many faults, and one of them is too much reserve for things like 'edgy' comments involving sexual banter or flirtation. I am not claiming virtue, merely inability to behave in such a way.
