I guess Wenger tried to get the best players that he could up front. Nothing wrong with that. We don't know how much of a run around he got from players, agents or other clubs. I guess the conundrum Wenger has is that once we lose out on the top targets, we have to set our sights a bit lower but balance that out against what we already have. The closer we get to the deadline, the likelier that we will make no signing or be left with weaker options that are probably not viable.

I guess from the average fan's point of view, we went years without making signings and selling our best players. Now we have the money, we don't seem to prise top quality away from clubs. Of course, Cech, Sanchez and Ozil don't count ;-)

He runs around a lot and appears to be a nice lad but you know if we are perfectly honest with ourselves he is the type of player you associate as being Spurs main summer signing.

To me prized = an offer which the selling club cannot refuse, which is not our modus operandi with respect to transfers, which when you see 58m for De Bruyne you have to admit we are right to not be in this world.

is, he's not up to the standard AW aspires to (ie CL winners). And I get hacked off by OG's little hard done by sulks, every time he's knocked to the ground.
If AW hopes to have a serious bash at the league title/CL final, then we need a striker of the class that AS offers.
If the club are happy with regular top four finish (bar 1st) and an FA cup now and a gain, then fine, I'll be happy with that too.
