It's the moment every teenage republican dreads, the breakup of their favourite terror group. And now to the ranks of the Provos,INLA and Westlife another name can be added,Oglaigh Na Heireann. The group are set to break up in March, according to the reports, but as is often the case with the promise of lucrative reunion tours and bank robberies, it might not be a permanent split.
The terror sensations – Cormeek og, Robbin Williams,Padraig McCann and Niall Connolly – are set to part company for a year because they want to focus on solo projects. An Oglaigh Na Heireann source told the Andytown Spoofer:The guys have been together for five years, which is an incredible run for any terror group without a feud. They fully deserve to have at least a year to go to South America and work with FARC. There is absolutely no bad blood between them and they are all 100 percent behind the decision. It is definitely not a split and they fully intend to get back together at some time in the future and kneecap a few c**ts for the craic.
There will be no parade for the group and the shock news could mean their last full parade, for now at least, will be at the Falls Road in the 1916 Easter Rising centenary commemorations.
Thousands of fans may still get the chance to see their Heroes as a string of robberies and punishment beatings which are already pencilled in before the end of the year are still likely to go ahead.
It is believed the break and the decision not to expand into the cigarette trade were agreed in a meeting in Bundoran last weekend. It means they could each take their money-spinning careers on very different journeys in talks that could get under way within weeks.
