It was the only sport I was ever good at. Strangely good.

It's a bit strange to see my mate who I was always better than now plays for a national team. (though it could be a lack of players from his country more than the quality)

I haven't played in years so going back will be very tough. Just for fun. But it's gonna be weird from being at the top of something to the bottom, old, out of shape, etc. I haven't played in about 12 years or so.

cost you a fortune and travelling there and back will be a pain.

I advise against doing anything, f.

Go for it imo, it's always a joy to do something you're good at.

The kit's a bit expensive though, presumably you'd have to buy all that.

With respect to the physical contact to be specific, not sure what levels of fitness would be required to skate around for a while as let’s be honest ice skating is really a girl’s activity.

I am complete **** at football. But good at hockey even though I started playing here.

The equipment is a bit pricey but much cheaper than when I was younger. Pre-internet there was one shop in the UK where you could get stuff and they'd fleece you. That shop is strangely now around the corner from where I live.

It's very macho and they love beating each other to pulp with their sticks. Bit like one of your games, in fact, but on ice.

I've known Canadians who are very keen to compare the masculinity of their national sport with the girly play-acting and fragility of footballers.

I used to go to a place up there to get stuff for Street Hockey back in the day.

I still blame street hockey, and skateboarding, for knackering my knees.

Claret everywhere, there was. Highly entertaining.

Sticking it on ice doesn't make it right.

Anyway my reference to skating was fitness based, not related to machismo.

Loved that place, bought loads of my best gear there. There was also one down near KT station that was excellent.

Room getting ready. the other chaps are slagging off the bunch I was playing with already. Saying all sorts of terrible things, Then they said hello to me and who I played for. :hehe: 'oh sorry'

That was a good start.
Then another time my friend and I started training with another team just for some Ice time and all of a sudden they started calling us 'goons' and giving us a load of **** and smashing us about. Because they thought we played for some university team. Mistaken identity.

Fun punting the balls f**king miles but a bit too much like rugby/ozzie rules for me.

They asked whether we'd like to play hurling, f**k that imo

Essentially a sport for complete f**king nutters.

The training was scary never mind playing against a team that actually wanted to batter you.
