Had a great time . Near a beach and swimming pool. Timed in well with siges festival which was like more better version of the noting hill carnival in sunnier weather. thoughts on barcelona

(1) people are nice and friendly and quite few staff speak english which was a suprise.
(2) everything happens later in spain. lunch is later, dinner is late and kids are out with their familes at 1am in the mrning.
(3) the city of barcelona is amazing . Went to the nou camp on a tour which was just magnificent. Got a photo with european cup which cost me 20 euros but was worth it
(4) bus tour of barcelona was great but by chance saw kids traning on a five a side pitch and their were all doing short passes. none of this english long passes
(5) women in barcelona are beauiful with great bodies. I stayed in place though dominated by families and people who were gay. but still it was all good.

arriving back in the uk was very very depressing. got back in rain on monday and made me think why do i live here when the world is so much more exiciting and better weather.

Did the Sagrada Familia which was like a gothic vampire type cathdal.

missed the Parc Guell due to only having a day in main city and time. But saw the magic fountain of monjuvic on saturday night which was as it as beauitful as it looks.

You get great view on the mountsin as well from their.

Just wished I had more time in barcelona. Only had time for green route of coach tour but not much of the organge route. Want to go back again.

London so depressing compared to barcelona.

most restuants i found did not open till 9pm. I was told that they have more public holidays over their then in most cities so no wonder they have more time.

We are more efficent in terms of when we eat and working longer but to me they seem to have way more fun

I recomend the stiges festival. All night party and much cheaper then in the uk. Only downside is dominated by annoying teenagers bumping past you.

Ban all low-cost carriers and set a minimum price of 500 pounds for any flight.

In this way we will weed out the feckless, undeserving poor, and leave a comfortable and no doubt glamorous experience for the rest of us.

jobs.

There are, of course, exceptions - but if you look at the entire demographic that will be the case.

Understandable, really - London is the financial capital of Europe and major capital city. Barcelona is a big city, but not in the same league of London.

In the same way that the pace of life is slower in Barcelona, the same is true of Bournemouth - where people have less demanding jobs than those that live in London (typically speaking).

I think it's widely accepted there is a massive housing crisis with people - qualified, affluent people - unable to afford accomodation that comes anywhere near a decent standard.

In fact, when I left london over a decade ago I was paying 1000 a month for a decent flat in the ****ty end of finsbury park.

It's nothing to be proud of, this doing mountains of work for scant reward. We should envy the spanish for their way of life, not denigrate them for not working all the hours god sends to cry themselves to sleep at night in a broom cupboard in Bromley.

Rich

London because of its large, highly skilled and hard working force of people. The Spanish do, rightly or wrongly, have a culture of being willing to work less hard at things.

There is historical and statistical evidence in front of you.

Context:

Spanish off-kilter living and working hours: owed to Franco's decision making and consequently means people have to work more.

Evidence:

Forbes chart proving the Spanish work longer hours than the British.
