Manager already has a log-jam of options in midfield which is potentially causing issues with selection. Don’t for a second believe the link on the Polish lad as it would make no sense to have not done it by now.

Maybe all the media do have something about Benzema but that is only going to happen through actions beyond our control, we are not going to force the issue with an offer too good to refuse, as such.

Straight choice as to who Wenger sees as the best midfield option on the day and the other on the bench. Tough calls but there you go.

Chamberlain is your right side option, and correctly so.

Ramsey is reaching the pinnacle of his career and I'm convinced that he'll be one of our most influential players if given a chance in his favoured position.

Cazorla, conversely, is nearly 31 and whilst a little genius, might be best as an impact player. It's more important to keep Ramsey happy than him.

I think most people think an upgrade on Coquelin is in order but feel guilty about saying so because of his really rather good form in the 4 months he played last year.

He does appear to have taken a fair degree of criticism in the week post West Ham all the same and the manner in which he was hooked was bizarre I thought.

You set out your side with a core aim and trust them to action it. You don’t think your attack is functioning well on the day change this area of your team, pull Giroud for Walcott for example if your desire is to get the latter onto the pitch. Ozil, Ramsey and Cazorla were all having very poor games. Any of these could have been removed and Walcott introduced to bring more width & pace if necessary.

Coquelin plays a very defined and fundamentally important role in how the team plays, same as a centre-half does or to a much more ridiculous angle a goalkeeper does. You would never dream of removing such players when chasing a game, correctly so of course.

To me, and of course it is simply my opinion which of course is irrelevant, we pushed a panic button very early in the season and too soon in the game, not long after we had AOC operating in a quasi right-back role and all semblance of shape had disappeared.

I know the argument that you may as well lose 5-0 as 2-0. I don’t subscribe to that.

Converely enough and to debunk the entire argument above I have no problem with pulling an attacker/striker to try and protect a lead but would only do so in extreme situations and certainly not with 30 minutes to go.

I feel sorry for Knocklyon United Saturday U9s this year, they have no idea what is about to hit them.

Now I am not the manager just to make that clear, just said I would help out with general **** the bloke who is.

Anyway the club has employed these ‘Catalan Academy’ coaches for the year for all under age sides. The dudes rock up all tanned and Catalan-y with printouts of the session for all the managers/coaches and then proceed to gather the kids round and show them the planned session on iPads.

I am stood there with my cup of coffee in my hand and I am quite sure most of the kids are simply wondering whether the dago has Minecraft or Stampy Cat loaded up.

I asked my lad what he thought and he told me he couldn’t really understand what the bloke said.
