got the laws wrong. If it hits you on the full, the fact that it hits you outside the line playing a shot is irrelevant, apparently.

Must admit I didn't know that. However, the whole 'umpire's call' thing was a bit odd, given that it appeared to be smashing into the base of off stump.

only ever be used to reinforce the decision of the on-field umpire. If it's only clipping and the margin of error means there is reasonable grounds for doubt, it shouldn't be out regardless of what the umpire says imo.
