View Full Version : Our cat got out last night. Well, out into the communal area, which is a huge no-no, as we are on

the ground floor and the front door is just metres away. I have never panicked so much in my life. He bolted up the stairs but luckily when I went after him he sheepishly walked back into our flat.

Now I’m absolutely petrified that he’s gonna do it again and I won’t be there to usher him back in safely :-(

It's what they do M.
Feed them and they'll always return

as people are coming in through the front door and he will make a break for freedom.

We'd literally never see him again, Geoff :-(

He has a weakened immune system and is at much higher risk of it being compromised if he goes outside. He is also likely to pass on his Good Aids to other cats through biting.

He seems content at home. A bit needy, perhaps, but no behaviours that suggest unhappiness.

Will someone fail to close the gate in the cat-proof fence properly? My main worry is Ocado drivers, but I must admit that their briefing notes appear to work pretty well. They all take enormous care with the gate.

So far.

That's the arrangement I would hope to have if we moved to a house with outdoor space.

Burmese cats and roads simply do not mix. They are far too trusting.

He is not a **** cat. He's magnificent and by far my favourite dependent.

so we're going to have to let her come in through the kitchen window. I'll be cleaning the windows every week :-|

*Back side of the apartment is one floor up with balcony, front is at ground level.

We've had all sorts. The last person was a singer who turned up pissed after performing at a private wedding on Hampstead Heath.

On day we will almost certainly get home to find our cat dead :-(

I'd have sent him straight back and demanded one that was worthy of the name 'cat'. If your cat were human, it would be on benefits.

I expect you are aware of this.

we got him from offered to pay for any veterinary care he may need, but we declined.

To add to our worthiness, he's also black - the least popular cat colour, meaning there is a huge excess of black cats in rescue centres because no-one wants them.

2) FIV cats, on average, actually have a longer lifespan than non-FIV cats, due to them being kept indoors and less likely to pick up illnesses/get run over.

So stick that up your mother and smoke it :vsign:

Several of my cats have died. I was fond of them, but can't say I shed any tears.

inevitably become the centre of their lives.

Every night I go to sleep with my head nuzzled into his fur. Every morning he comes and licks my face until I give him some attention. Every time I get home he is happy to see me, just as you hear of owners and their dogs, but rarely cats.

You would surely need a heart of stone not to develop a strong and meaningful emotional connection in such a situation?

misadventure, while some got the cancer. Only one or two died of proper old age.

Your relationship with your cat sounds unnatural and bizarre.
