View Full Version : I was at the sailing in Portstmouth on Saturday. There really is no escaping the fact that,

unless you sail yourself, it really is a painfully dull spectator sport. The fact that they’ve had to essentially design flying boats to get anyone remotely interested says it all.

and then if they pan to a wide abgle helicopter shot then you can't tell who is who. This applies to power boat racing as well

- the live commentator still had to remind the crowd they were supposed to be cheering.
Then again, I guess you don't need to cheer sport to appreciate it. Take me and Arsenal for instance.

where you both struggling to find a double. Over compensating and throwing the dart in the wall.
Golf on the other hand I'd rather play than watch.

without a doubt the most pathetic. Seriously, nobody gives a **** other than for a couple of weeks every four years.

Naturally they failed to work out the dimensions or engineering of the event so none of the f**king potatoes would rest in the spoon, so any time a kid went to take off the f**king spud fell on the ground.
Essentially, in respect of the organisation of the event, it was a f**king shambles.
I just stood towards the back drinking cider and muttering my disapproval.

I won because I appeared to be the only person to realise that the advantage of a potato over an egg was that one could push the metal spoon into the potato in such a way to obviate the necessity for any tedious balancing nonsense. I won by a country mile by essentially running full pelt and pretending to balance my potato.

I doubt they were as cheaty as you were, though I admire your desire to win.
I myself have never won an egg & spoon race, only reason I assume being that I have never been in one.

aroused by synchronised swimming.
On the face of it, it should have been prime ****ing fodder - girls in swimsuits, often contorting themselves with their legs in the air and generally showing a fair amount of flesh, but somehow it didn't happen. I think it's the fixed grins. Or the nosepegs. Either way it's a right turn-off.

'accidentally' dropping the potato after I'd won and standing on it - thus obliterating the evidence of spoonular penetration.

The boat bits were boring.
I used to watch it every single week in case they showed 10 seconds of Ice hockey action. Which they rarely did. nobody else showed it.
Then for a while Channel 4 did a nighttime show called Sports America which showed random stuff each week. Again I would tune in each week and they only showed one hockey game. The most boring game ever. No penalties. No goals. 0-0 For hockey that's very rare.
