old animal lusts. Could just be me, though.

How was the break? Was it a bit damp and blowy?

Sir Charlie of Nicholas

It was simply marvellous. Perfectly idyllic. The couple of days of damp weather allowed roaring fires upon sodden return from conquering mountains; all the cosiness of November, in July!

wd cumbria.

Booths was rather good, as you advised.

Nothing like dozing off with your damp socks gently steaming in front of the fire as your digestive system deals with hearty pub grub and ale imo.

an almost pathological attachment to the deep-fryer.

Deep fried battered haggis and black pudding fritters is as fine a starter as may be imagined.

I'll bet that repeated on you for absolutely hours. :hehe:

battered and deep fried.

Madness or genius? You decide.

Berni

Could one batter and deep-fry foie gras, do you think?

By the way, it is actually looking like they might actually make thon loon Corbyn their leader. They are actually mental :hehe:

A kind of Glasgow/Dordogne/Baked Alaska mash up.

They won't do it. It couldn't happen. It just couldn't. :dearbabyjesuspleasemakeithappen:

they're probably going to have to appease that side of the party by putting the madman in the shadow cabinet and veering suicidally to the left. It's clear to anyone with a brain they should choose Kendall, but they won't.

Having the Labour party as a political rival at the moment is analogous to having Tottenham as your local rival - however bad things are, they'll always f**k things up enough to make you look good.

If Jeremy wasnt in the race I'd be going for Yvette Cooper.

They call it 'cake' and it quite clearly isn't.

I wouldn't be surprised if they have split / merged / dissolved by 2025.

But I'm really not sure they do. I think they've decided to retreat into a cozy fantasy land of permanent opposition where they can say whatever they like in the comforting knowledge they'll never have to enact any of their policies.

A bit like the LibDems used to be.

the political middle ground and doesn't have full-on lefties constantly dragging it down. :-(

I'm not sure anybody's going to want to elect another right wing government after what's going to happen over the next five years.

Having struggled up the Old Man, we met two chapos at the top, one elderly and one middle-aged. They were father and son, from Ilkley. Both wore nylon football shorts and t-shirts and work boots, and allowed that, at 6 degrees in a howling gale, it were 'a might nippy. Aye.'

It turned out that it was the old fella's 85th birthday. And that they had come from, and were returning to, Torver.

15 miles. Wi't mountain in't middle.

Aye.

There is also the issue of what the loony lefties end up doing with themselves. One imagines they will migrate to the Greens - which might give them enough support to elect a few MPs :-(

measures. Look at electoral history if you don't believe me. They vote Tory precisely because they know they need to take their medicine. They vote Labour when they're feeling secure and bored with being told to eat their greens and go to bed early. Then Labour f**k everything up and the cycle begins again.

Anyone thinking that the electorate is going to come running back to Labour with its tail between its legs in five years' time is absolutely kidding themselves.

supersede all their common ground will stop that, I'd say. Also, the Greens get votes because no-one takes them seriously enough to actually look at their policies.

:cloud9: It's my favourite spot in the whole world.

Do you have a fuctioning house again now?

As it stands we're borrowing more and more and growth is still pretty weak, largely based on consumer debt and housing growth.

I reckon in about 18 months time that slim majority will begin to look even slimmer.

Fair play to the tories for trying to strangle labour party funding though.

Sadly, the post-leak scenario is a long way from resolution.

Sir Charlie of Nicholas
07-20-2015, 10:43 AM
Have you sorted your insurance issues?

Ashberto
07-20-2015, 10:53 AM
The cause of the leak has been fixed, and the place is now dry (the visible parts anyway - bathroom and bedroom still need the floor pulling up). However, because of a tiny pressure drop on the pressure test (from the old combi boiler) the leak-specialist will not guarrantee that there are no further leaks, which gives the insurance the excuse to not pay for any damage.

We can't fix the boiler (new flu regs) and to replace it we have to relocate it to the spot where we are clinging onto life on the remaining floorboards.

Annoyingly the boiler has got nothing to do with the f**king leak but it gives them a loophole to not help us.

Sir Charlie of Nicholas

I just hope you get sorted quickly. I will remember you both in my prayers.

Ms A never did like the bathroom floor, for starters. She'll be glad to see it replaced.
