Five minutes romantic horseplay and many years and thousands of pounds or euros to pay for it.

Rest assured that whatever buggy you buy now you will end up buying another within about 12 months.

This advice was given for free by the voice of experience.

sisters who seemed to have new ones for their kids every 6 months. Apparently now you buy an additional adapter for the pram so you can clip the car seat onto it. f**king mental :hehe:

Then he knocks her up again after a particularly good but unexpected European performance and before you know it she has him down at the shop looking at double buggies aka buggy number 3.

Especially for the newborn phase. Other people are dirty, remember?

I would question the sanity of whatever cretin deemed it reasonable to spend such a sum on such equipment.

Would you have the child grow up prepared to settle for second best?

I have been there and done that.

While one wants quality and (in theory) 'what is best' for one's little precious bundle of joy there is nothing whatsoever to be gained from the social boasting and everybody look at me purchase of such a product.

Within one month said product will have food items plus assorted 'baby spills' all over it.

should not take your f**king fingers off when you're trying to fold them and be cheap enough to be disposable. There's a lot to be said for second hand in this regard imo. Or you rely on doting (and cash-rich) grandparents to buy them.

I recall marching it back into the shop immediately after the purchase and questioning their ethics as as it was un-foldable and clearly faulty.

Berni

you didn't need to buy both. Under a hundred quid - job done. Never bothered with a pram as such.

girlfriend said no as she thought her parents would want to and now it looks like they've no interest. So i'm faced with the dilemna of shelling out 1k or going back to my mum and dad and asking them, whilst at the same time making my girlfriends parents look like c**ts.

You're in the classic position of first time parents to be in that you don't actually yet realise what you should or shouldn't be spending money on. You will be amazed how little you need a pram.

Was ideal, lasted forever until he was ready for a 2nd hand kickaround McLaren. Then had to shell out for a double when No2 came along. Was great for a while and still got over half the cash back when flogging on. McLaren is still going strong for No2.

the chances of her wanting to go out and push a pram in snow will be pretty low, which then led to her having panic attacks about being imprisoned for months with a baby :hehe:

Berni

that in a few months' time, they will be shambling, sleep-deprived, sick-covered zombies who would happily carry the child in a bucket if they thought they could get away with it.

The ability to carry on any task regardless while a baby screams itself inside out is something you develop after the first child.

Berni

full of bodily fluids. You must then consider what the best environment is in which to contain that spillage. Hand-stitched hide is not it. Shiny plastic is.

This is how I was brought up, anyway. Rationing and post-war austerity may have been a little bit in the past but the principle remained.
