This is all very well but what about the pre-pre-assists and the pre-key-pass?

Then I watched the race the day after and realised life remains far too short.

Unfortunately my other half would veto it before I got to the justification/protestation stage so I'll have to guiltily watch it in the night like some sort of midget scat porn.

No other than Ritchie from Happy Days, and brother of weird looking child actor, Clint Howard.

much every week - which made it interesting.

These days they just drive around and around and hardly anyone gets hurt. :-(

Fair to say, he's not improved with age :-

I used to like the Niki Lauda jokes. There was one about him and Elizabeth Taylor's labioplasty that was particularly good. :hehe:

They're even prepared to overlook the scantily-clad sex slaves, apparently.

I thought they were ace (then). Stick the DVD on this weekend and I may not get past 30 minutes.

Tina Turner ruined it all for me.

In a dystopian future, one female war leader sets out to free the female slaves who are used to breed the offspring of a murderous dictator in a high octane chase across the barren earth. Caught up in this is a lone man. Captured by the dictator's minions and haunted by the loss of his daughter, he joins forces with the fleeing women in order to escape himself, both literally and figuratively.

He's up there with the Coens for me in terms of shot composition and camera work.

Yeah, the twee, kooky and all that business can grate at times but he's made some of the best films of the century.

You don't get much better than that as an 11 year-old watching a hooky VHS at a friend's place imo.

I'm a feminist, at least I was raised by a single mother who worked bloody hard, had two jobs and was a brilliant mother, father and parent. I have a strong partner and am raising my daughter to think she can do anything she wants in life.

Yet, in the world of the modern feminist I remain a ***** weilding opresser and a perpetuator of the patriarchy.

It's nonsense, it really is.

Yeah him and Robert Yeoman have got a quite a thing going.

I was speaking to a friend of mine about this on the weekend actually, his girlfriend is a budding director, and cinematography really is proper a craft - in that age and experience seems to be key.. One tends to be better with age. I don't think Deakins was recognised until he was 40 odd. It's wild.

I only just saw The Great Beauty. Now that is seriously one of the best looking films I've ever seen. Could've watched for hours.

The thing about cinematography is that it's 90% composition so you can really get stuff from outside film. Look at most of Kubrick's stuff and it's all rennaisance art and grand masters combined with a well set up dolly.

fwiw I agree with you, but the fact is that the identity politics industry rewards extremism. Being reasonable and sane is a surefire way of getting ignored.

I wasnt claiming to be able to do it well, if at all, but it really is a part of film that lives more outside of film than in it.
