I read that peice. It was jocular fluff about public school, not a revelation of truth in any way.

friends is undoubtedly rude, juvenile points scoring and indicative of a rather unpalatable didactic streak.

But you always nail me.

I, for one, welcome constructive criticism of this type.

Naturally I was excluded from class for a period but I had the last laugh as I passed my English Language O’Level (not my Literature) and look where I am now.

Even if we correct the grammar, it's going to be an inelegant sentence. Perhaps you could reword it to make something we can all enjoy reading?

Hence, 'prep' which is a term that sprang from boarding schools.

Mind you, my school bell was called 'Ding-dong', my assembly hall was 'Big School' and our fourth and fifth biggest cricket pitches were 'Big Side' and 'Little Side', respectively.

Not until I left school did these somewhat infantilising terms start to sound at all odd.

2,000-odd boys managed to avoid drowning. Remarkable.

I should add that the pond was about 2ft deep, though. Which helped.
