Your mum etc.

I used to think it was a Roast dinner but I've gone off them a bit.

Sir Charlie of Nicholas

a Saturday lunchtime, sitting at the oyster bar at J Sheekey.

To start, half a dozen Natives and a bottle of Pol Roger Brut.

The main course, a whole north Atlantic lobster, grilled with garlic butter. Shoestring fries and a green salad. A bottle of Barolo.

To follow, the Spotted Dick with custard and a half of the Chateau D'yquem. The '73.

Mind you, I'll have changed my mind in a minute.

What it is depends on the mood but that's generally the most satisfying meal there is, imo.

That or the Saturday dinner, hangover ahoy.

Also, do you like snails as well as oysters?

Jake
06-18-2015, 12:18 PM
Sausages
Bacon
Black pudding
Eggs
Mushrooms
Tomatoes
Beans
Toast
Blob of ketchup

Sir Charlie of Nicholas

If it's a special occasion and we're adding the dessert wine, add another 300.

Yes, I very much like snails, but only really in a retro 70s way, with lakes of garlic butter.

Blob of ketchup, indeed.

Also, superfluous mushrooms and tomatoes. That's half a veggie fry up there. :yellowcard:

I have to say, if I'm going for my dream team fry up line up Bubble & Squeak is my new star signing.

Actual tomatoes are bad enough as it is, the tinned stuff is - at best - a contaminant.

Any place that serves them up, and indeed I have been in a few in London, should be closed down with immediate effect by the specific local authority.

Sometimes I ask them to pop it on ice for 3 or 4 minutes. We do tend to serve red wine far too warm in this country.

I only really went south in order to attend musical recitals in Brixton.

My London was very different to the skinny jeans and beard infested f**ked up version you now inhabit where a bona fide ****house such as Shoreditch or go forbid f**king Dalston is actually a cool f**king place to go.

I tried a chilled and indeed 'sparkling' red once, an afternoon soiree where meat was being cooked over hot coals.

It was f**king minging, went straight back onto the cider.

Red wine should be served at room temperature, that is the rule - but room temperature in Georgian times, when the rule was made, wasn't the 23 degrees we live in now. It was more like 10.

I had Rose recently on holiday, more f**king pish. Our mutual friend T would be pleased all the same.

I like a drop of rose at lunchtime when in France. With ice cubes in it, like the locals have. Doesn't count as drinking, see?

Is t a particular fan of the rose?

It was suggested as the only reason it took so long for it to be awarded it's star.

Essentially you call your taxi from the restaurant and only leave when you know it is at street level.

eat all the fish and dance around the maypole etc....Drinking might continue into much of Saturday which is Midsommardagen. The whole weekend is a big pissup really as most people start their 5 week summer holidays now.
