At least a fortnight I would imagine.

It seems that the summer break is a good couple of weeks shorter than previous years...

In the case of Sanchez probably 3 and he will miss the start of the season.

f**k them.

Most people only get 4 weeks off work with their jobs.

Being professional athletes it is incumbent on them to look after themselves over the entire year or course of the season and I am sure the clubs do everything they can to facilitate recovery and recuperation across the year.

Which team does this Mr Troops manage anyway, Curly? I always wondered that.

Certainly or especially on players at the very highest level.

I just don’t think 4 weeks complete rest and holiday is unreasonable as long as each personal situation is managed throughout the year.

Top level players in our league are not treated any differently to their peers in the other top European leagues at this point, the main difference being the mid-season break afforded to most.

I think it was shown last summer when Real Madrid were back in pre-season action featuring players who had played to the very latter stages of the summer WC before most PL teams got going.

The comparison with ordinary working folk was of course a crude comment made without complete sincerity.

Of course I am not a graduate of Sports Science so I am sure there are lots of papers and theories which completely make my own comments to be those of a retard.

If it weren't for all the money in football, we would neither know nor care about so-called physical demands.

Betting, boozing and birding. That's all they *really* do. Same as it always was.

Damned if they do etc.

So called sacrifices and demands made of top level players, one of many reasons why some (not all of course) are so well rewarded for their work.

Silly friendlies such as that against Ireland are an issue of course.

As before I am of course not dismissing all known medical sports science findings as that would be silly.
