So I got back very late last night from some northern hell hole for work.

I got in around 1am and after two beers on the train, decided another two were in order plus a couple of additional anesthetizers. Needless to say I passed out in front of the tv, fully clothed with an array of incriminating things around me.

Here is where things get interesting though my dear 'WIMBERs. I woke suddenly at 8am, initially panicked by what had happened vaguely appalled/impressed by the scene that I had set for myself on a Monday night/Tuesday morning.

Immediately I checked my phone and found a few emails that required answering. I did so and then got up, found I still had minimal control of my motor functions, so decided bed was best. Since then I've risen again at 12, answered more emails and tied up a few loose ends, been praised and no-one has said a word/noticed by lack of physical presence.

Have I won?

Your only crime perhaps being that you did not alert your manager or colleagues of your intentions to do so, either before or during the day. You appear to have completely got away with this all the same. Indeed having returned so late from work last evening I think your absence is only fair.

Your answering of e-mails at 8am is beyond the call of duty unless of course your normal working day commences at this time.

I would often work from home and do less than you appear to have done.

It's a done deal.

I'm a genius.

Don't worry about that, though. As long as you're getting paid.

No wonder productivity is **** in this country.

Enjoy those benefits, and don't worry about us here in civilisation. We'll continue to work to pay for your council houses and tax credits

Still, you can at least assume that the second half of the year is unlikely to be worse than the first, I suppose.

Absolute shower of an episode you described. You should be ashamed of yourself.

spent a week in Spain. This was pre-wifi. Went to the internet cafe at 4pm each day. My PA sent the work emails needing attention to my personal email. I sent a reply that she edited back into the original. Had most calls to the mobile diverted to voicemail. The few calls that got through, no-one appeared to notice the different ring tone.
Happy days!!
