There was downward class hatred, upward class hatred, laughing at black people, fat people, black fat people, orientals, cripples, scroungers, the lot. And women, of course, who were a particular target for the gay man and the pretty-much-gay-apart-from-the-sex man.

All in all, it was a thoroughly nasty series. And inexplicably popular.
