60. Now I don't mind the idea of generous maternity leave, but being made to take 90 is a bit much. I'm guessing it's best I take these after my lady has taken the first 300 days? :hehe:

I like how many of them have grown facial hair in a desperate attempt to pretend they're still men.

man should sort of scale back his contributions by going back to work, etc. Under no circumstances should you get sucked into sharing childcare duties equally. That way madness lies. Women are better at this sort of thing. They're built for it.

It's nonsense, of course, do what works out best for you guys safe in the knowledge that you have a progressive, caring, socially democratic society in which to bring your kid up.

They do wash their horns and cloven hooves in it though

childcare duties, the best way would be to sack the Middle East again. Of course, they couldn't admit it at the time so they just put it out that it was all about oil, or terrorism or some such other guff.

she would get her own 240 and 180 of the 240 i'm given (previously HAD to take 60 of the 240). But now i'll have to take 30 extra days and can only give her 150 of my 240 days*, which has annoyed me a bit.

Anyway, the crux of the matter is that before the change we could do it so that my girlfriend could be off for almost a year at 80-90% of her salary by which time the baby will be old enough to go to daycare, but now we'll come up two months short of that with this change so i'll probably have to use some of my days.

First world problems!

*both parents get 135 (now 105) days each at 80-90% salary which can be transferred to either parent, both get 60 (now 90) days at 80-90% which can't be transferred, and 45 days each where you're paid about 12 quid a day which can also be transferred (generally used for going back and working half days or taking out extra holidays)

week imo. f**k the rise of ISIS, if I have to watch Teletubbies for one more minute, I'm going to start beheading people.

days together but they count as double, so if you take 20 days together it takes off 40 from each of your individual allowances. Bunch of c**ts.

Lots of other ****e too. I'm already sick of it tbh.

is worth ending up looking like one of those poor, tragic, dickless f**kers. Before you know what's happened you'll have bitch tits, a straggly beard and be wearing an ensemble of t-shirt covered in milky sick stains, trousers with an elasticated waist and lots of pockets full of baby wipes, etc, socks and sandals.

You will basically be f**ked as a man, in other words. Is that what you want?

f**kssake, I just took holiday. It's not like you're going to be taking an actual holiday in the first year of having a kid anyway, so you might as well.

I guess I'm just browbeaten into doing more than my fair share of childcare, which is obviously a massive purgatory like nightmare. Much better to be sat in an office having the time of my life.

many shellshocked solipsistic narcissists about these days imo. They've all been brought up to think they're precious little snowflakes to whom only good things should be allowed to happen. They're all soft at the core. None of the self-reliant steel that parental distance puts in the soul, see?

That's the problem with the country today, not enough emotional illiterates with abandonment issues.

that they have some right to expect happiness. And, when they finally realise that this is nonsense, they end up going to shrinks and whining about it.

There's a lot to be said for just shutting up, gritting your teeth, having a stiff drink and getting on with things. The realisation that blaming your parents for things doesn't help and that nobody cares or wants to hear about your tedious problems is a significant moment of growing up.
