View Full Version : So is this largely pro-Tory board pro fox hunting? I see they want to repeal the ban.

The poor carry the disabled on their backs whilst dressed in traditional sack cloth and ashes as pennance for not being a productive, wealth creating member of society.

If they win they will be covered under the new bill of brutish rights. It's basically The Running Man with a monocle.

toff-bashing, rabble-pleasing ****e from that slimy c**t Blair's government. The legislation also had more holes in it than a f**king sieve, which suggests they didn't really have any higher motives.

Generally speaking, I don't give a **** about foxes, don't much like the idea of hunting and really hate hunt saboteurs, so you can probably put me in the 'don't give a f**k' camp.

Mind you, it would be worth repealing it just for the howls of lefty outrage. :hehe:

Of course we'll ignore the rural poor, many of whom lost livelihoods and income when foxhunting was banned.

start caring about foxes we'll also have to address factory farming etc. And that's not good for either profits or our moral self-understanding.

Strikes me we (not you and I but we) kill foxes then what, f**k the carcass out of the window.

If there was a point to killing them then crack on.

continue -- I still do not think that the particular way in which they are killed in fox hunting is the proper way to go about it.

The manner of the killing matters not a jot.

Berni

Occasionally, a fox dies. So what? I see dead foxes by the side of the road pretty much every day when I drive to work. Being normal, I don't particularly care.

The problem opponents of foxhunting seem to have here is not that foxes die, it's that people enjoy themselves when killing them. By which logic, you should ban all hunting for sport.

Ashberto

You shouldn't be caring about animals, Splenders. Makes you sound like some kind of bleeding-heart liberal.

Berni
05-21-2015, 03:09 PM
'unnecessarily' by that definition. They are dying for your enjoyment. Do you care? Of course not. So what makes hunting different?

the splendor of antigone

wealthy deriving joy from something the working class is excluded from. Naturally, I'm all for reinstating cockfights etc., so the cruelty inflicted on animals is shared across the board.

Berni
05-21-2015, 03:16 PM
There are if far more working class people involved in foxhunting than upper or middle class ones. The Countryside Alliance March in 2002 involved nearly half a million people - do you think they were all the wealthy?

No. The divide on foxhunting is not between wealthy and poor people, but between urban and rural people.

It's a common misconception.

To the best of my knowledge we don't eat fox.

I may be wrong.

It's not the killing I necessarily object to, it is the logic behind. And to be fair I don't really object, fox hunting is in the drawer with other things that I don't really give a f**k about.

Berni

They get killed either way. No-one eats them, of course (apart from the dogs, maybe), but you do have to kill foxes to keep numbers down, so why not do it in a way that's fun?

enjoyment of the end result.

This is the thing, you see? We can decide to choose what is and isn't worth worrying about. And to me, a fox isn't worth worrying about any more than was the delicious little piglet Sir C and I scoffed last weekend.

against other living beings. That's slightly worrying to me.
At least in terms of farm animals it's more of a passive acceptance of the need to produce food for human consumption. It's not an active revelling in their misery.

So I worry about the people who engage in stuff like fox hunting and inflicting pain on farm animals (there's some horrific videos out there), not you, personally, if you don't engage in said acts.

DNA. We sublimate our natural atavism by all sorts of methods - football and boxing being among them. However, the hunt is as much - and as necessary - a part of human nature as sex. We laugh at people who repress their sexual nature, but we sneer at those who exercise and enjoy their hunting instinct. I don't really see why.

'vacation child' (i.e. not child sex-slaves, but kids who were social misfits and were in need of some good things in their lives) so my sister had a friend while we were away, seeing as my brother and I were not quite well-developed enough to entertain her properly (again, not sexually, but she was a few years older than us).

So here's the crux of the matter: She was hot and showed me her tits and fanny. So I like attractive German girls. As for the rest, I'm not sure.
