It really is petering out dreadfully.

Spurs are really giving it everything.

Make league football weeknights.

And Champions league a weekend thing.

to take part in and yet the idea of scrapping it doesn't seem to have occurred to anyone.

It is taken seriously in other countries - particularly Spain and Italy - and certain clubs will be kicking themselves when failure to do so in England leads to losing a Champions League spot

and we get over 300, another ton for DBD as well.

Space opened up in the commentary box with Strauss moving on.

Who's skipper? Denly?

Champions League spot is surely fundamentally flawed, wouldn't you say?

Ben.

He did it for the limited overs (and some Championship games) last season.
They also dropped that useless barrel Claydon and Riley, who hasn't been great, for Tredwell.
Pleased to see at least a bit of a shake up, not sure if they have considered using Tredwell and Riley and preparing a dust bowl.

they might perhaps not get shat on quite so heavily by everyone in first round as they've got a bit of Euro nous and experience, plus it makes the players of the club more experienced too,.

If we start changing competitions just because Spurs are a bit ****, we are in trouble b. Napoli, Fiorentina and Sevilla seem to have coped. I am not saying it can't be improved but don't see the need to scrap it. A less retarded footballing community than the English might actually see the opportunity of taking on different footballing cultures away from the more unforgiving spotlight of the Champions League as a way of improving their chances once they do end up in said higher competition

around overtime.

The low down camera they use for European games reminds me of the Highbury camera angle. I don't know why they don't use it all the time.

those in the Champions League and yet it requires the teams involved to play a potentially huge number of games, further afield on a Thursday night with those limited resources, thus damaging their chances on the Saturday.

It is not so much a tournament as an imaginative punishment for mediocrity.

of 30 million pound Erik Lamela and 25 million pound Roberto Soldado. There is the odd far away trip but half the games are at home and playing Thursday Sunday is no different to playing Wednesday Saturday

sides

I have never understood this" ruining the domestic season rubbish", it's not as if the Italian and Spannish sides have bigger resources than Liverpool/Spurs etc

exception rather than the rule. The Southamptons and Evertons of this world are rather more apposite examples, surely?

Eufa, Cup Winners and European Cups? 3 brilliant tournaments everyone was proud to enter or even win.

valued the domestic cup very highly. The European Cup was full of winners of **** leagues and could be won by playing only one difficult game. The UEFA Cup was possibly the hardest to win as it had more decent teams from the better leagues in it.

Anyway, nostalgia ain't what it used to be eh, Baz?

*This might not be true.

Liverpool for the rest of time, also one of the 'big four' every year which means a 75% chance of being amusing...
