I thought landing Gordon "Jonah" Brown in was a masterstroke, it usually works so well.

This is the dichotomy, really. North of the border people genuinlely seem to want a government to point left - even if, as we all know, SNP arent exactly Syriza - whereas in Westero...sorry, england, Labour were criticised for being too left leaning.

The people eligible to vote in the Referendum weren't the same people eligible to vote in this GE

Not the only factor but pretty fecking significant I'd have thought

But I would imagine wanting to have a voice in Parliament which may focus on their own national interests at times is not exactly one and the same as independence.

classic have cake and eat it - they enjoy the benefits of devolution within the security of the union. Not really sure how they can feel cheated at all

I've not read an Irvine Welsh book in ages. It surely does speak of some level of antipathy towards what the Labour party offered for this election though. A sort of disconnect between what ed could get away with either side of the wall.

Sorry, I mean your Free State instincts. ;-)

Actually the folk beyond the wall enjoy a position of consitutional power *over* the hated Saxons. Something which will become even more apparent to the latter in the near future.

1985.

I remember being shocked by the level of drunkenness, though clearly inspired also.
