View Full Version : I do find it bizarre that the most important issue for voters is the NHS

of all the possible things that could sway who you vote for it's that

Remember all that *******s at the Olympic opening ceremony?

I suppose the NHS is so important to people in the UK because in every other country on earth, if you become ill, you die. It's only in the People's Republik of UK that Comrade St Attlee invented Doctors and made them a gift to his people.

Amen.

on top of the 70 hours a week I do at present. :hehe:

Between Monday - Friday, I spend more of my life at work than not at work (and not at work includes sleeping as well).

I will practice privately within 5 years.

'My job security/house price/mortgage/income/earning prospects', which is what's actually most important to everyone, but they think it'll make them sound selfish if they say that, so they say 'The NHS' because then they get a smile and a biscuit.

And as a person who know must pay anywhere between 50 and 70 euro every time I or a member of my family wants to attend a doctor, before costs for medicines, let me tell you sonny that your NHS is a bally wonderful thing.

The fact it is perhaps grossly mis-managed is a seperate issue.

Now be told.

as they won't have a clue what GDP actually means, if inflation can be too low, what drives interest rates etc etc.... while the NHS is something they are likely to have first hand experience of, if waiting times for their GP are up or if it takes longer to get a hospital appointment, they will then deide if the NHS is working properly or not.

The economy and Employment IMHO are the 2 main points that should ecide who you vote for.

Medical treatment costs money. You have money. Therefore you should pay money. It's no different to any other transaction, surely?

Nobody's being left to die on the street in your system simply because money changes hands, are they? So what's the big f**king deal?

Or, to put it another way; new Mercedes or private heathcare for the family.

Sir Charlie of Nicholas
05-07-2015, 08:34 AM
Right. So where does the 50 euro come from, then? Oh yes, I pay it whether I visit the doctor or not.

Jesus. This whole 'free at the point of use' is like a sacred cow for the mean and the stupid.

I hope he does not get angry with me but how a chap can watch a game of football and then twist into a sense of paranoia about a manager totally unrelated to his own club, or either team which has just played the game, is simply beyond me.

As you will know or remember, they are forever getting one bug or another.

Cost me about 1500 - 2000 just a year or two ago, then another 3000 - 4000 in private medical insurance.

I am being entirely selfish of course.

to get you off work for absolutely anything, and prescriptions are free some of the time (not quite sure how that all works). Of course we pay through the nose in taxes and health insurance but it is free at point of service and seems a damn sight better run than the NHS

f**king thing. Plus paying for various ne'er do wells, feebs, cripples and skivers get to use it at your expense.

It's a racket.

After all, traditionally, they would be the ones saddled with care duties themselves.

of a famous nature. Can't remember who it was now

For some reason I seem to recall Boycott managing to get out several times to the innocuous slow medium pace of Mudassar Nazar. Might just be my memory playing tricks
