...there's a Chalobah, Bamford or Bertrand who....probably still won't make it with them.

They're widely regarded as having the best youth set up in england nowadays though so I'll wager a couple of squard players will come through, if for nothing else then to pad out the CL squard with english players.

I remember how promising our side of 2000 looked. Midfield of Pennant, Noble, Rickets and Sidwell - arguably two made of decent fist of a career in the Premiership but nothing special.

Not sure how accurate this is on Wikipedia, but if right then only 16 players who won the Youth Cup in the 2000s went on to become internationals - seems low to me
