Hopefully the team who count my postal vote won't have been drafted in from Tower Hamlets.

I feel energised and enfranchised now, deeply engaged with the political process.

Slightly disappointing that we only had 5 candidates to choose between; you can have a socialist, a loony, a wimp, a loony or a loony :-(

I ask this through curiosity and not prying in any way.

The polling station on voting day is s seething mass of wrong 'ungs wearing red rosettes asking who you voted for through their appalling dentistry. Not a place for me, thank you.

It's also in a school. A state school :shudder:

You will normally be required to vote in person at an official voting centre but you may be eligible for a postal vote if you are:

An Irish diplomat or his/her spouse posted abroad
A member of the Garda Siochana
A whole-time member of the Defence Forces.

You may also be eligible for a postal vote if you cannot go to a polling station because:

Of a physical illness or disability
You are studying full time at an educational institution in Ireland, which is away from your home address where you are registered
You are unable to vote at your polling station because of your occupation
You are unable to vote at your polling station because you are in prison as a result of an order of a court.

You of course have a much larger population to process on the day.

Even though I'm now retired I haven't bothered to change it.

Just sent off my local council ballot paper (Libdem v Tory council)but I ain't got the parliamentary one yet. My councillor mate says a lot of people have got them delivered the other way round.
