Nationalise railways, ringfence a sensible amount of NHS contracts so private healthcare providers can't bid for them and introduce a 55-60p top rate then we can talk.

The NHS one is inevitable, vrailways possible in ten years. Tax rate, never!

I would gladly support all three.

You have to at least admit that milli has a reasonable stand on europe. Refusing the referendum compares favourably to the crap cameron comes out with.

I confess, I don't believe there should, but then I don't believe in universal suffrage as I object to the great mass of the ignorant and the feckless being granted a say in the future of our country - but I'm interested in your view as to why the majority should not be heard on this issue.

He was a regional MP when I was working regionally, remember.

Then again so was Ed Two. Lot of time for Yvette, mind.

The stand on Europe I totally agree with. Not only is it, on balance, massively beneficial it also enshrines some fairly important rights that our (lack of) constitution hasn't managed to.

On the bigger wuestions i prefer to see parties stand for whst they believe and sell it to the electorate. If you want out, vote UKIP. If you want a referendum, vote conservstive. If you want in, vote labour.

That is fine. An election isnwhere the big debates should be contested.

or anything gay like that. It's about appearing to care deeply about the planet and demanding that the plebs cut down their consumption so that the nice people like them have more for themselves.

There was a a 'how green are you?' survey that came through at work, full of questions about one's position on things and nothing about actual consumption. In other words, just a way for smug middle-class types to feel good about themselves.

Ironically though, deeply sceptical as I am about the eco-fascists, I use very modest amounts of energy, live in a small home sharing light and heat with neighbours, recycle dilligently, consume f**k-all except beer, walk almost everywhere and never get on an aeroplane. Which makes me a perfectly inverted green hypocrite myself. :hehe:

But then I think the majority are far too stupid to be allowed for MPs, as well :-(

You cant just dip in and out every five years and expect to have a handle on them.

Some people are also stid, obviously. I remember a girl once saying to me that i was evil for voting labour because if they won they would 'come and take all our money'. She genuinely believed the labour manifesto promised that they would be knocking on doors the day after the election confiscating all money :-)
