View Full Version : Last night must have been one of the strongest reserve teams in years: Wilsher, Arteta, Diaby,

Gnabry.... and yet it was Alex Iwobi who stole the show with a hat-trick. We are on our way.

I understood that we hoover up any player showing exceptional talent from around the age of 13?

If they did then sadly they were possibly retarded.

Now akpom as well. Some of them stolen quite late, some of them early.

Few of the bigger clubs can rival that in their first team squads.

A few top quality players who have come through the system at various stages coupled with a manager willing to give them a chance in the first team, perhaps on occasion forced by economic restraints but also a willingness to play them.

Still I would imagine maybe Bayern with the likes of Lahm, Schweinsteiger and Mueller (maybe others) may claim to have topped that.

Or maybe Barcelona with the much touted Masia production line.

I think they were hoovered up by Bayern much in the same way we do with decent foreign youths.

Begs the question all the same as to what is and what isn't a youth product.

Pretty boring question I will grant you.

Bayern's utter domination of German football is massively dull

was at any other club previously. They have let a few go though, Hummels and Can spring to mind

I know for a fact Toni Kroos wasn't a Bayern lad to start with.

Should stop talking about it now before Ben reminds me again of my pre-season prediction. Wolfsburg will be very competitive next year though

moved to Bayern when he was 15-16. Think the Schweini thing is a bit like Luton fans claiming we "poached" Jack from them

For the unexpected hiatus of Athletico Madrid last season see Dortmund a few seasons ago. In relation to Bayern they are just a particularly brilliant side at the moment and the gravy train of the CL just means the biggest will grow bigger.

To be honest the Premier League isn’t exactly a million miles off either.
