View Full Version : Cheeky week away in July - I'd quite like to see a bit of Greece before the Russians take it over.

An island. One with some history, perhaps. No Brits, common sort of Germans or raves.

Suggestions please.

you can find quiet, less touristy spots

Italy of course.

But in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere in between the mountains. :cloud9:

no tourists there apart from myself.

Now I think of it, the food in Greece will be ****.

Firenze, perhaps. Or Pistoia. I love Pistoia.

Will it be full of the vulgar masses?

Less busy than any of the other islands I have visited. Certainly the most scenic and least touristy.

Tbh it is the Greek islands so if you want unspoiled and devoid of tourist masses you are probably in the wrong country though there is luxury to be found if you are willing to pay.

you get out into those mountains and do some walking? Be sure to take plenty of water, of course.

Mind you, you can fail with the food, the service and the people you are sharing an island with. Just avoid all of the places I've been and you'll be fine.

Similar as in I bet when you walk down the street you see those very European lit up green crosses outside of Pharmacies. Which also tell you what the temperature is.

I haven't been to Greece since I was a teenager. I was vaguely wondering whether I'd been missing anything.

Just try and avoid going when I went as it was wall to wall Italians.

it on the counter rather than give it to the person. And the change goes on that little tray.

Crucially though, they've quite literally been resting on their laurels for 3000 years now.

For the committed gambler who cannot break away from a game for a ****.

They don't want to touch your dirty English skin, that's the issue.
