View Full Version : A lot of talk about Walcotts performance, Hodgeson is a right mug for playing him out of position.

How I see getting the best out of Theo is to play him down the flanks where he can run at the full-backs and use his pace to his full advantage,

The other benefit in playing him in this way is that the full-backs can't safely push up and attack us because of the threat of him getting in behind them which he does very well. With the flexible way we play the opposition never know from which direction he is coming from next.

I have noticed many times when he is substituted we start getting attacked more down our flanks.

I rest my case melordy.

I've no idea why Woy didn't just get him to run the channels and try and move the back three across more.

The question is, who will replace him.

If he wanted to give Delph a chance, then there wasn't really much option than to chuck Theo upfront.

We should bear in mind that Roy and Wenger seem to be on regular speaking terms and I am sure have discussed Theo's potential as a central striker.

opposition's defensive and midfield lines then his pace will still cause problems. And, of course, it's easier to run beyond defences when you're starting from deeper (off-the-ball runs being the one world class feature of his game).

But yes, essentially my impression was that he was just making up the numbers.

I feel Theo sees himself as a striker in a front 2 so getting him to adapt to the modern game of 3 machine like midfielders who play behind the striker and cover all positions that were covered by dedicated players in a 4-4-2 will take some doing especially when he's always injured.

The way forward is with Alexis, Ox, Wellbeck and Narbs.

Walcott needs to adapt or move on.

I'm sure he can find a club in Spain still willing to play with a front two and give him a chance.

Sufficient replacements exist and it would be interesting to see what Gibbs and Bellerin had to offer in more advanced positions.

Debuchy and Bellerin down the right wing could be an explosive element to our game next season.
