FORD Escorts, *******, Granada's etc

Though Ford is obviously American they feel very British to me and part of my childhood.

if you want to get pedantic about the elements that make up the Country it should be called Southern, Eastern, Western and a small bit of Northern Ireland.

the six counties. And, while the Republic has now dropped that claim, the word Eire remains as a linguistic legacy of that claim and is therefore politically inaccurate.

Hardly a linguistic legacy. It also remains clearly stated in the Constitution as the name of the State.

The historic claim to the island being the State was nothing to do with the use of the word Eire.

This is all fairly basic stuff berni.

It was as much down to the BBC historically referring to Ireland as Eire that I suggested this was an appropriate word for you. I had you down as a BBC type.

The use of Republic of Ireland is pretty infrequent. The Football Family remains one its few exponents.

Didn't we bail you out a few years back? Aren't you British now? Surely we bought something with all that money?
