View Full Version : The predictable response that the third goal at the emirates f**ked us

relies on the huge assumption that last night's game would have played out the same way if we were only 2-1 down.

I suspect it wouldn't. Monaco would have more than likely played with more urgency and adventure with a narrower lead and i doubt very much we'd have been able to dominate in the same way.

night. If we'd have played to a capable level in the first game we'd never have been in that mess, far better side than Monaco

hence my change to the away goals rule where sides have to score in both legs for them to count

be 100% focus and urgency the entire game.

The frustrating thing is we absolutely should have gone through last night. To dominate so heavily and not get the goals was a big let down.

Not efficient enough. Not enough Giroud first goal vs west game moments.

conceding, yes? I agree.

sole event tends to be simplistic, since it ignores myriad other factors. Why does this need to be pointed out?

when it was our attacking inefficiency that was to our bigger cost.

So it's the correcting of a fundamental misapprehension.

while failing to capitalise on all the chances we had also speaks of attacking frailties. It's not an either/or. Stop being so simplistic.

afford a fleet of fifty million pound forwards, and probably not even then.

Further, it eventually leads to criticising Olivier which is even more pointless as he's the most important forward we've currently got.

Far better then to simply point out how essentially feckless and useless defenders are, as a breed

Is entirely respectable, statistically speaking.

Of course the way you want to play is either/or, dependent upon the players you have!

Great forwards means you'll emphasise attack; great backs mean you do better defensively.

Matches and trophies are won by the team with the best balance between the two

Only our attacking record's pretty good, too. We have 56 goals from 29 games in the league. Only Chelsea and City can claim better. How does that speak of attacking frailties?

Seems to me that every simplistic argument you accuse others are making is mirrored by an equally simplistic argument from you.

I just found the cries of 'simplistic' rather tickling.

I'm personally all in favour of simplistic. It keeps my braincell from aching.

First goal, last goal, makes no odds.
