View Full Version : Well, that was all a colossal waste of time and energy, wasn't it?

Oh, well. At least we're out of the bloody thing and can concentrate on more important matters.

just hope they can get up for Newcastle away. One of those games we'll either drop points or batter them

Good morning.

Thing is though, if a game of football doesn't turn you on, as it were, then what is the point of it. It's not supposed to be a means to an end.

we finish is now the only benchmark of success given that we aren't ever going to win the league again. That and cups are all we have, basically.

deal of confidence from such a performance, because, qualified or no, they know they were good.

I thought it was a wonderful game of football, with Ozil and Cazorla absolutely magnificent. A pleasure to watch. I enjoyed it very much.

Giving people a massive headstart and then seeing if we can catch them is a frustrating and tedious way of going about things. We ought to stop it, really.

though i am acutely aware that it was the circumstances that allowed us to dominate so much, as much as our quality.

I just hope the players recover mentally for saturday. Bit scared about that game now.

will stop people calling him lazy and useless, I imagine), but it was all so wearyingly, predictably Sisyphean.

Also, we've probably knacked ourselves and Newcastle will take our pants down at the weekend.

All in all, a bad business.

Their usual game is to sit off and play on the break, allegedly, so perhaps a different result from the first leg wouldn't have made such a huge difference to the structure of the game.

What pleased me was our insistence on remaining patient, continuing to make triangles or go cross-field to engineer a tiny amount of space, and that we kept playing like that right up until injury time.

And Ozil :cloud9:

Do we play on Saturday or Sunday? An extra day would be nice.

15 seconds with you and I remember that life is **** and essentially meaningless and that I might as well just kill myself now and be done with it.

Not because there's anything intrinsically wrong with it, but because you must know it's going to draw criticism.

sweat imo.. it was too damn predictable to even get slightly excited imo even if we'd got through we wouldnt win the silly cup so no real interest at all tbh

(knocked out by an inferior team injustice, not cheated injustice) and glowing in a run of form that instills confidence.
Newcastle will be terrified after witnessing Arsenal rip Monaco apart and will crumble into jabbering wrecks the first attack we make.
All is good

shamed' and - despite your misgivings - I think you'd enjoy it. It looks at the pathology and mentality of the current passion for internet shaming and is quite interesting about it. It has also convinced me of the wisdom of never going on twitter.

To be fair, he writes in the first person so much and is so much a part of his books that any other narrator would be a bit odd.
