View Full Version : Genuinely hard to work out how Miliband et al didn't see this sort of thing coming really?

In fairness, it's a well put together bit of political propaganda, but even so.

sensible his stance looks. Good of the beeb to stop even trying to pretend it's unbiased, though.

I think his moral cowardice, not to mention inconsistency - he argued so strongly for it in 2009 and 10, may well have lost any chance of an overall majority.

I wonder if he'll start wanting Mebyon Kernow in the mix too

It will have zero significance come election day.

It's just the left clutching at straws.

Using Sturgeon wouldn't work half as well.

And don't forget, I know a couple of MP's staff too, one of whom I know says the same

TBF that could be a leetle beet extreme for a billboard ad campaign.

inspired attempt to bully the elected leader of the country into dancing to its tune. The longer it goes on, the better it will play for the PM - not least because the Labour leader and the BBC being repeatedly seen to be on the same side only serves to reinforce the point about the BBC's bias.

Anyone hoping this will keep the tories out is kidding themselves.

Oh, and in its outrage, the Labour party does seem to have forgotten that Blair rejected the idea of a debate with Hague back in the day and they didn't seem to have a problem with that.

Largely those people have commemorative tea sets of the royal weddings and jubilees, or lots of ceramic clowns.

To be honest, that the BBC is politically biased to the left is such a self-evident fact that it only someone who is being wilfully obtuse can refuse to recognise it.

Seeing as they are all going to screen a debate too, if Dave grows a pair.

I don't know why he can't just admit that his **** showing last time around, after 18 months of arguing for it, scared him to death and he doesn't want to do them again.

All this arguing for the greens, the DUP, Plaid Taffy and the SNP and the Whigs to be involved was just laughable.

If he can avoid them, he should. It's his job to get re-elected, not to appear on tV so you can call him dish face.

debates last time were:

a/ a sitting PM is always on a hiding to nothing in such a debate because they've actually got a track record to be criticised and the others haven't

b/ Such debates can make personable no-hopers look half-decent with unfortunate consequences (Nick Clegg, anyone?)

c/ Such debates are tremendously boring

Cameron has nothing to gain from such a debate. He's absolutely right to steer well clear.

And it's only the BBC that threatened to 'empty chair' him, by the way. That was a particularly crass and clearly biased threat that made them look very bad. Hence them backtracking on it.

I know you're no Labourite, but surely a victory for Ed is better than 5 more years of vicious Tory cuts?

For my money, I hope his stance kills these stupid debates stone dead. Anyone who has their opinion affected by them shouldn't be allowed to vote in the first place.

Was it the one where he wanted the greens involved, was it the one where he wanted the welsh and scottish parties involved or was it the ones where he claimed the timing wasn't right because he wanted them before they released their manifesto?

He looks weak, shifty and scared

Not that there's much difference between the two main parties, mind. They'll both borrow masses of money and fail to hit their targets.
