The question is simply how modestly you're prepared to live.

Given that you're northern and therefore (with all due and respect and no offence meant) both mean and lacking in taste, you should be able to live on about 40 quid a week.

I once knew a bloke who amassed a fortune, three homes with pool installations that he never swam in.
Finally retired in his late sixties, spent two years in a wheelchair with an oxygen cylinder and then carked.
It all depends on your mobility in your 70's, I suppose but for many, that's not always great.
If the Govt want to encourage us all to work til we're 75, then f**k them tbh.
Enjoy your work but don't become a slave to it.. :-)
