although I'd have taken Lukaku off at HT, looks like he's out for a few weeks

I thought Liverpool stood a chance of winning it

just as it is equally as naive to think that losing Wenger would automatically mean that a new man will so better.

presumably Naismith will play as a false nine now.

They have Kone as well.

well Liverpool possibly but imagine Spurs fluking it the first time the winner gets a Champions League spot.

chasing Champions League football through the league can never win it?

I wasn't recommending him, just pointing out he's their only other actual striker (I think).

if they win it and finish outside the top four.

It is impossible to say what will happen when he leaves, for any of us. Personally, I think that stability is the most important thing in football and we currently have it and that we should appreciate it more than we do.

Taking a pot shot at a young, promising manager or even an experienced, successful one, has shown itself to be absolutely no guarantee of taking your club forward. On the contrary, it more often than not seems to lead to a conveyer belt effect where clubs change their manager every couple of seasons and it becomes a little bit groundhog day.

People joke about our 4th placed finishes every year, but every other club in the country, barring two billionaire-backed clubs, would currently swap places with us. Surely that has to count for something?

But every other f**ker tries it and fails. And then you have the issue of City and Chelsea, without their investment we would be challenging for the title. I don't really expect to be winning the league but I do think we should be closer than we are.

The main frustration is that we are now in a prime place to kick on, but are still making the same mistakes. Next season will be key - it takes time to rebuild a side but if we're making the same old mistakes then maybe a change is necessary to take us forward.

Bergkamp's Brain

is that spending the additional money is no guarantee of us becoming a better team.
