and they stick you right in the middle on a small table between 2 other couples so you have to listen to their nonsense.

I know there is some sort of restaurant logic to these things but I'll never understand it. Even when I worked in one I never was told the reason why I have to bunch everyone together.

I assume it's too make it look busy.

I also dislike if I have a chair facing the window. I am not experiencing the restaurant just what's going on outside. (the opposite rule applies in Coffee shops as I like observing in that situation )

don't have to walk miles between tables.

You can ask to be re-seated, though, you know?

my wife on the other hand will ask mid meal :hehe:

The typical reply is no sorry those tables are all reserved. Works in Italian restaurants though.

the illusion that people enjoy in a strip club.

It's all fantasy, though I concede that in a restaurant there is a more tangible pay-back.

looking for.

Even with an older vintage, smelling the cork doesn't really tell you a great deal at all. You can tell more from taking in the bouquet directly from the glass.

You are to be congratulated not only for achieving this level of stupidity, but for showing it off with such great enthusiasm.

the bottling process. Unless you're drinking wine that's over 20 years old, it's extremely unlikely to be corked.

The sniffing is mostly theatre these days.

I recently sent back 3 bottles in a row. Same batch, all corked. It took no more than the sniff of the cork to tell in each case.
