in another country?

I know this bloke lives in fear of not being able to get home for his Dad's funeral should he die, as in Macedonia you have to bury the body very quickly, and he is now into his second week over there.

I fear this could cost him his job, as a colleague was recently dismissed for demanding too much time / taking the piss for personal and family reasons.

If his absence is going to affect the company's performance it's hardly fair on his colleagues, is it?

Frankly, a gentleman losing his father is entitled to hear the news, take a deep gulp, look through the window for 5 minutes, then get back to work. Different for a lady, of course.

Why should Ash lose out on his bonus because the company has underperformed because our Drama Queen chum is doing his grieving widow bit?

and decided to quit.

the boss man said No don't quit take a break for 3 months go to Holland and have a rest then come back.

So working single highhandedly through this time she came back.
After 2 weeks back she quit and left. :furious: so then you have to add time to employ somebody new then train them.

Boss is to blame here.

terrorists into power. He's a good bloke and a very hard worker, though like most Balkan types, it seems, likes a bit of drama and is quick to play the victim card at times.

Don't get them started by pointing out how that they aren't really in Macedonia, you'll never hear the end of it

Can't they just call themselves Yugoslavia again? Would be much simpler.

Everything could be done remotely.

Yet we have to sit at these desks. People are more productive at home imo.

Nope. I'm happy to consider Macedonians as a distinct nationality. It's only Nic's lot, trying to steal Alexander, that make them be known as Fyromians.

I'd rather go to an office and leave it all behind at the end of the day.

I went through +1 family bereavement in a 12 month period not that long ago and was basically allowed as much time as I saw necessary, during the illnesses and after.

No hard and fast rules for this ****.
