****. Dolby was just as ****, but pretending to be something else. Ptetentious ****, then.

('****' is not a value judgement, you understand, simply shorthand for disposable pop music.)

Sorry gentlemen, I shall revert to talking about popular music hall acts and skiffle combos

I taught him to fly. Well, started to, anyway.

He was a f**ked up mess of a man.

Jimi Hendrix is. I just don't think they will get him :-(

Is it rude to ask if you still earn your beans flying c?

I've never flown professionally full time. I used to fly part-time for money, but that was years ago, and in a specialist field.

Most of my friends ended up in a field, come to think of it. Arriving at high speed. :-(

I wish it didn't cost so much, I reckon it's the only way to cure my fear of flying

Sir Charlie of Nicholas

Aerobatics. Military aircraft. Sky God stuff, basically.

It's not that expensive if you spread it out over a period of time. I've known people take 3 years to complete a licence due to funding it as they went along.

I don't have that wedge spare and if I did conquering an irrational fear wouldn't be at the top of my list of things to spend it on.

Shame but there you go

Fly everywhere you can and it gradually eases.I flew from Waterford to Limerick once and I doubt I even had time to buckle the seat belt

flight case in hand is ruined :-(

Sadly I was born with irreparable damage to one eye so was never able to consider flying. It's something I know I would have been quite capable of and would have loved. It's why I took to ridiculously fast motorbikes

The first Mrs Sir Charlie was (is) such a pilot tbh.

started RAF training together. And that's peace time! The Right Stuff is basically just an irrational belief that you, in particular, will not be "spearing in" any time soon.

have had the stones to do the kind of stuff you did. 150mph on two wheels is not for the faint hearted but I don't think it's anywhere near the antics you were up to.

Sir Charlie of Nicholas

So you can get stuff wrong, get the aeroplane way out of control, and take your time sorting it out, unlike such a situation on a bike, when you'd be instantly dead.

Flying gets trickier when you're doing it near the ground so the punters can see. It's doing that that teaches you the real smell of fear.*

*****.
