I see worse done to our players every few games.

Fair enough, our lads usually end up a bloody heap of splintered balsa wood too though, on account of them not being ents.

It wasn’t really a tackle, more just contact as a consequence of passing the ball and Matic coming in.

Had it been an actual tackle with the momentum and force required then yes it probably would have snapped his leg in two.

Split second thing all the same, no malice involved.

be the victim of such a tackle and to be the one who is punished for a relatively harmless, albeit aggressive, reaction.

But them's the rules

Should they be changed so that incidents seen by a referee can be retrospectively punished? The arguments for and against this have been gone over a million times and, personally, on balance I think they work best as they are, even if on occasion they lead to players like Matic being unfairly punished.

So this is an absolute non-story, imo.

Crime of the Season it was not.

having just earned a creditable away draw in the Champions League.

Given the wider context, I reckon he would probably have got away with a disappointing home draw without too much scrutiny and criticism.

to non-event tackles have got rid of the punching C. A good thing imo. Its years since we have had someone decent at punching although I suspect Alexis might have a decent right hook in him.

There's always one with Jose, otherwise it could be Jose and Jose won't allow that to happen to Jose.

Last week's narrative of Chelsea the Paris racists is now dropped for Chelsea the hard done by.

Quite clever really.

Potentially a season ending injury for Kane in the making imo.

[not that I would advocate such a thing you understand]
