I'm not one of those Wenger Out types. I kinda love him like a father and I want him to succeed... but I'm absolutely positive that with the players we have we should be doing much better. Mourinho could turn these players into title winners and plenty of other managers around Europe I'm sure.

The game has caught up with Wenger's style a long time ago and he has no answers.

What do we want to settle for? Maybe a domestic cup here and there? Or do we want to become number 1 again? I fear the only way for the latter is to say goodbye to Wenger.

who has tried and failed to compete with the billionaires in recent years?

Not that he's spent the last decade building and paying for a stadium, is it?

I'm genuinely amazed how many deficient people cling to everything Mourinho says, presumably in order to bask in some reflected charisma.

for our club and deserves it... but he isn't the manager to make us dominate anymore.

It's painfully obvious. Teams like Leicester and Crystal Palace are more and more frequently taking the game to us and it's been like that for the last few seasons. We're scoring less and less each year. We've gone from being a near 100 or more goals a season club to 60-70 goals.

In fact they blew it as opposed to simply the other protagonists money winning out.

Cannot recall us ever being so close in those seasons we did not win it. Could be wrong.

Why are you so settled for mediocrity?

We've led the race quite convincingly up until Jan quite a few times now but come the end of the season we're always well off the pace. :banghead:

I don't see how being top for 60pc of last year, winning the fa cup and getting further than most teams in the CL is anywhere near mediocrity.

That you have come to consider it so is almost entirely down to Arsene

Twat Cuddles

could at least be challenging every year.

Are you not tired of watching teams **** teams give us a hard time all the time? It's becoming the norm.

Sir Charlie of Nicholas

When you speak of '**** teams giving us a hard time', what you mean is, 'we don't win every game'.

I can understand the much lesser clubs in the League moaning about the billionaire backed duo, but us less so.

We spend a lot of money.

That said, Arsene does tend to know what he's doing. And no, he's not all about stats and numbers, a lot of what he's about is finding a chemistry and trusting players to come up with their own solutions.

It's an idealogical standpoint I can get behind on and off the pitch

As the TV money has continually gone up, lower-order PL sides can afford better players compared to other leagues. We're not the only club near the top who have dropped points to these sides.

That said, I do think we struggle to find our rhythm against teams that press us intensely.

Twat Cuddles

Teams always think they can get a point or three of us now... That's a worry.

they were able to acquire players who they later sold on for huge figures, giving them a smaller net spend than us last summer.

Stop being silly. It's unbecoming in a chap of your advanced years.

The fact that we spent more money than Chelsea in the very recent past is irrlevant. They have outspent us by an enormous margin over the past 10 years and, as a result, it will take another few years to catch them up.

You are quite aware of this. You're just saying silly things to be contrary.

and Cesc.

Until last summer, when we sold one of our best players it was because we had to make a 20 million profit every year to pay for our stadium.

The money they spent when their spending dwarfed ours is still - as you acknowledge below - having an effect. So why should we be closer to them?

Steve Williams - gay for Mark Knopfler
02-23-2015, 02:55 PM
German players being very of the moment also.

Next summers upgrade perhaps on Navas or simply a direct squad replacement for Milner.

Pokster
02-23-2015, 03:12 PM
and they generate less natural income than we do

Pokster
02-23-2015, 03:15 PM
and I would argue that we knew that our sponsorship was going to go up massively, so in effect we didn't "need" to sell anyone the summer before.

And my point from the start of the season stiull stands, an extra defender and more defensive minded midfield player would have made all the difference (soemthing that I think AW now realises, hence calling back Coq and also buying Gabriel)

Steve Williams - gay for Mark Knopfler
02-23-2015, 03:19 PM
I would suggest he was only called back due to necessity resulting from injuries to players.

Absolutely nothing to do with a tactical rethink or awakening on his behalf that we needed a "more defensive minded midfield player".
