I'm not saying I know, by any means, everything about the press but I have always taken a keen interest in the industry. I've known many reporters, had a few different newspapers as clients (some of which might surprise a few people on here) and the last two generations of my family before me worked in Fleet Street too.

With you it was the assertion that the journalists don't pay attention - or need to pay attention - to the business side of things. Simply isn't true. On Monty's side, well pretty much everything he says is embarrassingly wrong on the subject of how newspapers are wrong. I'm saying this with a mere 14 years experience of working in the engine room of one of course

glance at the Telegraph online - no idea if he's being a bit disingenuous about HSBC or not but if he's right surely it's a bit worrying that major news like that was hidden away? Or honour amongst thieves so to speak is par for the course these days?
