myself confronted with what I can only describe as the most dreadfully characterised, simplistic lefty propaganda I've ever seen - all masquerading as drama. I then find that this pisspoor piece of agitprop was written by notable Labour supporter JK Rowling and was appearing on the 'politically neutral' BBC, which means that I have paid for it via the Licence Tax.

I'd be outraged if I were in the least bit surprised.

which could have been a Labour manifesto. However, I couldn't help thinking that the characters being portrayed as right wing Tories were actually quite correct in their thinking. I wouldn't want scumbags like that in my nice village.
Also doesn't it make perfect sense to move the food bank nearer to those that need it?

You know that that's rather what a state broadcaster is supposed to do, don't you? If you don't want those things, let's get rid of the state broadcaster. I'd be happy with that.

'A Freedom of Information response obtained by The Commentator website has revealed that the BBC buys more copies of the Guardian than any other national newspaper. Nearly 60,000 copies of Rusbridger’s rag could be found in Beeb buildings between April 2010 and February 2011, over 10,000 more than the Daily Mail. That’s despite the Mail having a circulation approaching ten times that of the Guardian.'

Not sure it's a bad thing either, given the sort of bile the daily mail regurgitates.

disproportionate number of Guardians relative to the population at large, it seems likely that that choice of newspaper would seem to reflect a disproportionately left-wing mindset at the organisation.

Sir Charlie of Nicholas
02-16-2015, 11:53 AM
buys an equal number of copies of the one as the other doesn't indicate a left wing bias?

By the way, I agree with you that Mail does, indeed, spew some dreadful extremist bile; I'm just not too blinkered to see that the exact equivalent extremist nonsense is peddled by the Guardian. They're just two sides of the same coin.

The Mail is a tabloid in both size

How many copies of the Times and or the Telegraph, for instance, would have been a more thoughful comparison. You would expect people who work for a large news organisation to be more likely to read the quality press

Plus the numbers don't make that compelling a case ie 50,000 copies of the Mail are still being bought

Ashberto
02-16-2015, 11:58 AM
the subject, it would seem that you are of the opinion that Israel is roundly to blame.

If other evidence is available I apologise for not being familiar with it, and look forward to acquainting myself with it in due course.

Berni
02-16-2015, 12:03 PM
take a copy of all the papers, I would assume (which I'm guessing would explain why the Mail is being taken at all in many instances). Thus, any discrepancy in relative numbers is therefore likely to be down to the personal choices of individual staff members, so that does make the statistic of value.

That said, I would agree that a comparison with The Telegraph would have been more meaningful.

I'm trying to think of what the last job I got via The Guardian was. My first one post-JTC came via the UKPG (which I assume has died now) and my second and third were Guardian. So that would have been 2001. Since then, they've all been either agency or headhunting, I think.

query the fact that you were totally misrepresenting my views, tbh.

And if Sir C and I just constantly spout 'the same old ****e' as you constantly claim, here's an idea: don't read our stuff; don't respond to our stuff (which you do with almost stalkerish zeal); stop trying to bait us and go off and talk to other people.
