go for a drive to Northern Italy. Says it will take 10 hours. Would be a nice scenic drive.

Is it worth while? or too much hassle, better to fly.

I'd probably give it a couple of years of driving before you try it my friend :driving:

Don't get out of 2nd or 3rd gear. Lost about half a stone at the end of it

It gets tiring after a few hours. Does Mrs Telecaster drive too?

I find it pretty tiring though as I am nervous as I am new.

She can drive but she never driving in London. But she tried it last week and hates it so ever since I've done the driving.

Let alone halfway across Europe.

She's terrified of driving in London.

But over there they don't wear seatbelts. park anywhere they like, drink drive, drive on pavements and don't stop.

Even at 1 hour I am being extremely generous.

Also, ten hours sounds optimistic. It takes six to get to the Lake District.

Maybe a drive to St Albans first, and visit the abbey and the Roman stuff.

to stay in lane, indicate, pay attention to other road users, not use the horn for recreation and all those other things she's not used to.

I suppose that, if you're used to chaos, order must be a bit scary.

As Berni said, take a stop-over if you can then divert south along the Riviera. Will add another 5-6 hours but definitely worth it.

Any coach journey confirms that.

Any coach journey with a broken toilet also reaffirms that.

Any coach journey with a broken toilet, going through Mississippi in the height of summer, further reaffirms that.

Any coach journey with a broken toilet, going through Mississippi in the height of summer, as the only white person on board, makes it blindingly f**king obvious to said person.

personality type to you, Snin. I'm not sure that 'going mental' is quite his style.

This is the man who's obsessed with the London Underground and now owns - at a conservative estimate - about 40 guitars at the moment, remember?

until you get south of Lyon, then it livens up a bit. Alps are a laugh to drive over, although tunnel is prolly recommended for the nervous driver
