View Full Version : To be fair, Clive, despite their dominance posesssionistically, I don't think we were *that* far

away from winning today.

We didn't play well, but if Kosceilny or Giroud had scored either of their eminently scoreable headers, the complexion of the game may well have changed dramatically.

Ultimately, it's no disgrace to be dominated away form home against good quality local rivals. Our main problem was not taking the chances we did create.

Small margins, n'all that.

playing welbz so soon after injury in such a high tempo game - walcott starting would have been better imo

and to a lesser extent Chamberlain, I would have started Walcott. The way they squeeze you need runners in behind, they leave a ton of space, we had too many slow/lethargic players going forward.

ive no idea to be honest as walcott has run them ragged every time he plays them - they had to brak his leg for gods sake to stop him last time out - and before you say thats why - walcott was the only real threat out there when he came on - I remain unconvinced with Danny Welbeck - Giroud light years ahead as a striker - forget the physical aspect we needed pace today

Still, the less pace in behind the more intensely they are able to squeeze us, I would have probably left out Ozil or Cazorla for Theo, the main issue being him and Welbeck both not long back.
As I say Sanchez and Chamberlain were big misses given the way they play.

Rose is not a talent - just there to hold up/break up play- Bellerin much better and quicker, Eriksen is one of only 3 players I would have in a red shirt tomorrow, he is a constant threat but Walcott would have left him for dead.

full back who doesn't defend all that well. With Welbeck we still struggled with Eriksen cutting inside and Rose overlapping, though.

Particularly in our own half.

With regard to quality, i thought spurs lacked it. Thank god, otherwise we could have been thumped.

Its another examle of how we cant cope eith being pressed consistently. Had ox and sanchez been playing we may have coped better. Wellbeck in particular was hopeless although he does do a hell of a lot of work. Ramsey was his usual self this season...almost always out of position, sloppy on the ball and easily bypassed. Piss poor.

Quite frankly, i thought it was an emarrassing performance.

better overall performance.

That's what top teams do when they are under the cosh. They weather the storm, then they make their quality tell.

We weren't good enough to do so but the margin was small.

I would also politely poiint out that had we managed to keep the ball at any stage we may have created more chances.

The only real difference between this game and the city game was that against city we consistently brought the ball out of our third and threatened to hit them on the break. In this game we consistently surrendered the ball coming out of pur third and put ourselves under more pressure.

In both games the back four coped well for 95% of the game.

To some extent, the two goals we conceded were a bit soft, particularly the second one.
