have got them down at last. Sad.

We went through a similar stage ourselves; difference is that Wenger and our new stadium were always there to give us all hope.

So what is it? Has Klopp gone from a great manager to below average manager? I cannot recall anything similar in European football.

France now PSG (This year's wobble due to FFP will only be 1 year)
Germany Bayern
Portugal Benfica/Porto
Italy Juventus
Spain Getafe

Really is all done and dusted for the next 10 years in all those places

The blood money influx over here, as much as we dislike it morally, has produced the best league in the world for competition if not quality

Our league has always been that way though; I read an interesting point the other day that suggested that this is why we do not have a Derby d'Italia or an El Clasico equivalent.

very little chance of them sacking him and he won't resign (unless he needs a knee operation of course). Just seems to be that nothing is running for them at the moment. It is actually tight at the bottom and will only take a few wins to get them clear of relegation. Getting a draw at Bayer Leverkusen probably wasn't a bad result but last night was a disaster. Mind you Augsburg are in the Champions League places now - did you see who was in goal for them - THE WALL

We chatted while my colleagues were... engaged, as it were.

Lovely girl with unfortunate teeth. She told me they'd had Kobe Bryant in the week before.

She gave me her non-work mobile number so that we could stay in touch and she could show v and I around town when we returned.

I'm like every girl's harmless old uncle now :-(

They actually have all their players back as well now, apart from Gundogan, who has been replaced by whoever ate him.

You're right though, the Piszcek, Blaszkowski link up is really effective for them, like Neville and Beckham or Baines and Pienaar.
Immobile has been poor, bit like many of them the only game he looked good was the one against us :-(
Mkhitarian has been disappointing and they seem to have got the Man United Kagawa rather than the Dortmund one.

opposite of what unionisation in the UK was like. German shopfloor representation is just that - an acknowledgement that the shopfloor has a stake in the healthy future of the company. What it is not is an adversarial arrangement based around left-wing 'boss/worker' rhetoric.

Also, the Germans weren't stupid enough to nationalise their key industries, instead keeping them in private ownership, which also had the effect of not having them hampered by pain in the arse shareholders wanting their divvies and restricting spending on R&D.

edifice is composed, which is to denounce them all as proto-Fascist.
The large majority of these elements which we today associate with Fascism where taken from the workers: This idea of a large number of people marching together and strict bodily discipline etc. They took that from social democracy, from the left. Same with the idea of solidarity.

edit: Oh, I see. That sort of solidarity etc. leads to horrific things

national character is indicative in itself of its diversity. The fact that individuals within our society are quite capable of comfortably holding aspects of both points of view is also a healthy thing.

Trouble is, we've slightly airbrushed from our history the fact that our empire was basically founded by pirates. Indeed, our navy during its most successful periods still ran on piratical principles ("For England, for home, and for the prize!").

Basically, I don't think we give our pirates enough credit.
