I'm not familiar with this particular raft of measures, but it seems that the State does like to regularly award itself new powers. Whether they need this or whether it has more to do with each guvmint and Home Secretary wanting to stamp their little bit on things I don't know.

Where the writer completely lost it for me was when they started ranting on about Israel/Palestine.
