I invaded as a wee nipper in '69 and stayed for a couple of years. "Ulster 71 - come and join the fun" :-| and of course the glorious double.
It was a cul-de-sac on the edge of town, mostly Prod, with a couple of families of the intruding Bruttish Steeut, but with one or two Catholic families. The kids all played together on the street and people were round each other's houses, but there was no sectarianism, even though we played "I am a gunman" etc. There were always helicopters in the sky, and although there were not troops at our street corner (too middle-class, perhaps), when driving around it would be normal to see them everywhere.
When I came back home I wondered where all the helicopters and soldiers were.
