View Full Version : Given how nondescript the January transfer window was, do we think that Jim White is sitting at home

loan could leave us with the same problems upfront as we've had in defence in terms of numbers.

Yeah, that leaves us with just the five players who can play centrally upfront.

Billy Goat Sverige

by the return of Walcott and Ozil, and Akpom has been promoted with Sanogo going on loan. He's a bostonbrian basically.

Steve Williams - gay for Mark Knopfler
02-03-2015, 01:12 PM
He certainly drove a hard bargain last time so would expect the same again.

The 'loyalty' we showed him during his injury was nothing more than every club in the world would do, as you indeed say.

I would like to think he can see how close we are and the huge part he may play in the next step, but then he could just as easily see pound signs.

Messy business. Pay him loads and others come knocking at AW's door etc.

bench for a Premier League game is a 19-year-old striker who has never started a competitive game for us. I mean that would be absolutely ludicrous.

I have not a clue

Luis Anaconda
02-03-2015, 01:38 PM
But I take your point. I wouldn't have kept all three - one of Poldi or Campbell would have done. Akpom replacing Sanogo is good for both imo. Just seemed to go from one extreme to another. Would you really be happy if we were 1-0 down on Saturday and Akpom was the only forward on the bench? Remember this is Arsenal and injuries we are talking about

There is a good piece on The Times by Gabriele Marcotti as well about the overuse of statistics and how they are nothing without context. It rather shows up a weakness of your argument when all you produce is a number with nothing really to back it up

Monty91
02-03-2015, 01:56 PM
are insufficient and that we should have kept hold of one of the ones we sent out on loan (even though one of them was not even trusted to play centrally and the others have a combined total of one goal for the club)?

You simply suggested that we now buy one a summer, which I read as being that we would continue to do so.

Save for a striker, which I don't think will happen, not really sure we need any more at that level.

We have two, where else would they go in our side.

A striker is the obvious one, won’t happen in my view.

The much debated monster of a DM, you don’t need to be spending 30m on such a player irrespective of your views on Coquelin.

Defence? Really?
