Mainly because he's Spanish but manages to look vaguely Irish. Or Jockanese.

He's got a slight Linus Roache thing going on imo. Although whether his father's a sex pest as well, I don't know.

I could go into a big long thing about Iberia being full of Celts before the Muslamics invaded but nobody wants to hear that.

I quite often got mistook for local in, of all places, Porto. The only place this has happened.

Full of english down there, see.

It's very much full of faded art-deco charm, as their empire pretty much disintegrated in the early 20th century a lot of stuff was just left to rot in the most picturesque way.

Lisbon is a fantastic place, as is Estoril just down the coast. The north is gorgeous too, Porto is amazing and the Duoro valley (where they make all the port) is a stupendously picturesque little place. Eiffel designed the bridge over the Duoro in Porto.

great beaches, affordable, good golf courses and the Portguese, on the whole, are very nice people

Nice beaches are great, but when they are lapped by the north f**king Atlantic they're of no use to God nor man.

It is warm, pleasant and there is both food and beer.

Very little to dislike about it really.

Seriously, get over the algarve, it's like the costa del sol.

The rest of the country is fascinating, we stayed with someone in an old stately home who was ambassador to russia.

Raving communist, of course

I know what it's like with a kid that age. We did more than our fair share of that sort of Baleerics when mine was a toddler.

My point is that the whole ecosystem of the algarve is for tourists, much like the costas.

let me into his bar because my swimming shorts were still slightly wet and he said I had 'made pee-pee'. It was about 3 in the afternoon, ffs!

This and Jose Mourinho have soured me against the whole of Portugal.
